Botswana's beef exports shift after EU closes market access
The European Union shut Botswana's last authorized fresh-beef export zones on 21 April 2026 following foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks, forcing the state-owned Botswana Meat Commission to seek alternative markets in the Gulf, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia, including the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola.
